Assessment is the process that we measure learning gains and progress of students. Assessment activities should align with the instruction objectives. This will be followed by determining the ways to know whether or not the learners are successful. In this sense assessment becomes the desirable basis for instruction for it measures what is considered important for the learning objectives. In that sense assessment is also core to the TE/TB instructional design process. In TE/TB instructional design there are two different areas of use of assessment as administrative use and the use of assessment involves learners and instructors. While elaborating the notion of assessment it seems necessary to draw the line between the terms evaluation and assessment in order to avoid any confusions. Assessment refers to the measurement of progress toward a learning goal evaluation involves judgements on the efficiency, effectiveness, and worth of an instructional program.
