Evaluation is the systematic investigation of the worth or merit of an object. Similarly, evaluation of an instruction program is the systematic investigation of the worth of an ongoing education program. The purpose of evaluation is threefold. First of all, program evaluation and the information gathered during the process assist in decision making. Secondly through the process of program evaluation adequate and relevant information is obtained regarding the possible effects of education programs. Final purpose of program evaluation is to assess the value of the education and the degree to which the intended objectives have been achieved. While describing the purpose and nature of program evaluation we refer to three main types of program evaluation: formative program evaluation, summative program evaluation and developmental program evaluation. In the relevant literature there are three different program evaluation models namely, Kirkpatrick, Woodley and Kirkwood and AEIOU developed by Fortune and Keith. Among them Kirkpatrick’s five level evaluation approach is traditionally and widely used to evaluate education programs.  For details, please watch the video and you can find the link for supplementary reading oncoming sections.
